About Neil

I started out like every other brewer trying to get into the hobby, reading, attempting, drinking, sometimes failing but mainly enjoying myself.

Over time I developed my skills and became more knowledgeable up until the point where knocking up a batch of beer at home is second nature.

I developed my skills enough, in fact, to become a professional brewer. I now get to brew for a wider audience than I ever imagined and it all started from making up batches on the kitchen stove.

I’m not really doing a Kolsch recipe it’s a “Kolsch-style” recipe! Kolsch is one of those beer styles it seems that to truly appreciate and understand you have to make a trip to Cologne in Germany. When you write about it you have to talk about the architecture and the cathedrals in the city. The […]

Complete Guide To Wine Making Kits

I absolutely love wine making kits. I was dubious of using them at first thinking that the wine would be inferior to what I could buy at the shops. I have to say though I’m converted. I have got though a couple of Reds, a White and now a Rosé. The Rosé is what I’m […]

Brown Ale and Spiced Brown Ale Tasting

This Brown Ale Recipe finished up at such a high final gravity I was sure it was going to be too sweet and cloying. The thing about brewing though is you have to wait to see how things pan out. One of the things that can get to a brewer is trying to second […]

Spiced Blueberry Liqueur

There is a lot of fuss around blueberries being a superfood. All I know is they make a great liqueur and you don’t necessarily have to wait till the summer months to pick your own blueberries.   Even in these dark and cold months it’s possible to be making fruit liqueurs to warm up a […]

How Long Does Home Brew Last?

Your home brew has a shelf life and depending on how you store it, that shelf life can be shortened or lengthened. As you have invested time and effort to create a beer in the first place, it would be nice if you can keep the beer tasting it’s best for longer. Hopefully though, it […]

Making A Lemon And Ginger Cordial

A lot of Home Brew Answers is dedicated to making alcoholic drinks and beverages. Todays recipe is for a soft drink. Having something non-alcoholic and full of flavour in the house means you don’t get tempted into unhealthy ways. Making something like this Lemon and Ginger Cordial at home means you know exactly what is […]
